Tough Setback

I've got to be honest and transparent that today's update is a bit difficult to share. After apparent stability of her feeding tube for a full week since its placement, the area surrounding Lee's new J Tube began having leakage late yesterday afternoon. The nursing staff immediately contacted her surgeon who had them reduce Lee's tube feeding rate but the leakage did not noticeably change at that time. Since the surgeon has not actually seen the situation first hand, it's too early to know what her assessment or response will be when she makes rounds today, but I'm sure you can understand what an emotional hit this was for Lee (and me).
That said, we want to be quick to follow up with reaffirming that our hope and peace are not shaken based on this change in circumstances. It's times like these that cause us
to be reminded and force us to rest in the knowledge that our loving Savior is still in control and at work. We are continuing to rely on His love and strength, which are still very evident. We are thankful beyond words for how He is using so many of you and Lee's care team to remind us that we are not alone in this journey.
On that note, a BIG update that had originally been my headline before yesterday's setback is that our local hospital is changing their visitation policy effective today, and I will be able to visit Lee for the first time in 3 weeks! The rules and restrictions are still pretty strict but the reunion will certainly be sweet and much needed after this latest curve ball. I'll end on that positive note with the continued thanks to all of you for both following our journey and continuing to pray for wisdom as the doctors evaluate appropriate next steps today.

Great news that you can be together. So sorry to hear about the feeding tube. Since ED is not common, the surgeon must be feeling pretty challenged. Prayers for wisdom for the medical team, for Lee to stay strong, and for you. Your faith continues to amaze.
