Another One Down

Lee reached another big milestone yesterday on her journey toward getting to come home. She had her first successful nutrition through the new feeding tube without any apparent complications. Her doctor kept the infusion rate very slow for the first trial but plans

to incrementally increase the rate and volume over the next day or two until she reaches the normal rate we've used in the past.

Thor also had an active Sunday. He got so top heavy that they added a new "arm" to help bring some better balance but they were also able to remove one pump channel. They also removed Lee's last drain from her surgical area and moved her back to her own drain bags for her G tube and off of the wall suction they've been using to evacuate her stomach.

Another positive change brought about by some increasing back pain and pressure points was a bed upgrade. They moved Lee to a combination air/gel bed that she says has already decreased her pain levels and improved her likelihood of getting some better sleep. Without getting too graphic for those who might be reading this over breakfast, we are also VERY thankful that her intestines finally showed significant signs of "waking up" yesterday which was another key benchmark for getting to come home.

While we still don't have any definitive timelines, we are increasingly optimistic that if her progress remains on the current track Lee will make it home before her birthday on Saturday. We appreciate your continued prayers in that direction! Thanks for checking in...

Steve
