A Plan!

I'm happy to report that Lee continued to regain her strength and spunk on Tuesday, so it appears a double dose of "mom" has been just what the doctor ordered! They more than tripled the previous day's walking distance and were still smiling at the end (although through slightly gritted teeth). Equally exciting was the progress on Thor's weight loss program. As you can see in the photo, he's looking lean and less mean with only the IV nutrition remaining!

Lee's surgeon was back yesterday morning and was encouraged with the healing progress over the long weekend. While she, like we, wishes that functionality of the new feeding tube was part of the current equation, we've all come to accept that only time will reveal whether or

not it will heal in a way that makes it viable. So, the plan is to spend the rest of this week transitioning Lee off of her IV medications (other than the nutrition) and begin getting me trained up on the new equipment with the hope and plan of being able to come home by Friday afternoon. We'll then have to wait about 8 weeks to reevaluate the new feeding tube and determine if it has healed in a way that eliminates the leakage and allows for its use or if it will need to be removed via additional surgery. I'm sure you can infer the prayer request on this one...We also made contact with Lee's GI specialist at the Mayo Clinic on Tuesday and he will be consulting with Lee's local physicians to see if he can offer any additional insight on ways to overcome the latest challenges.

Please also continue to pray that we can stay on track with the discharge plan and have Lee back in her own bed by the weekend! As always thanks or checking in.

Steve
